Our commitment in the face of natural disasters

A region hit hard in recent months

On June 24, 2026, two earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 struck north-central Venezuela less than a minute apart, devastating Caracas and La Guaira State, where nearly 80% of buildings collapsed. The death toll today exceeds 6,300.

A few weeks later, on August 10, 2026, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck neighbouring western Colombia, near San José del Palmar in the Chocó department. Several cities, including Cali and Pereira, had to impose a curfew, and thousands of families were left without housing.

These two disasters, occurring a few weeks apart in the same region of the world, are sadly not isolated cases. Every year, earthquakes, floods, hurricanes or landslides devastate entire regions, leaving behind families and small businesses that must rebuild everything.

Interloan's position

At Interloan, we believe solidarity knows no borders. In the face of a natural disaster, wherever it occurs, we cannot remain bystanders. That is why we have chosen to make assistance to victims of natural disasters part of our mission — not as a one-off gesture, but as a lasting commitment, regardless of the country affected.

We think above all of the families who have lost everything, the children who need a safe environment, and the small businesses and local shops that carry their region's economy and now have to start from scratch — in Venezuela, Colombia, or elsewhere.

How we act

— For individuals and affected families: Interloan invites people and families affected by a natural disaster to contact us directly so that we can study, case by case, the possible solutions — a direct financial donation, a material donation, or a credit solution tailored to enable gradual reconstruction.

— For affected businesses and shops: small economic structures are often overlooked in emergency plans, even though they are essential to reconstruction. Interloan proposes to look into dedicated support for affected entrepreneurs and shop owners, in the form of financial, material, or logistical support depending on the needs identified.

— Support over time: we know that the emergency passes, but the needs remain. Our commitment does not stop at a one-off gesture: we follow the evolution of each situation and adapt our support to conditions on the ground, in the weeks and months following a disaster.

Are you affected, or do you know someone who is?

If you, your family, or your business have been affected by a natural disaster — in Venezuela, Colombia, or another country — and need support, please do not hesitate to contact us. Every situation is unique, and Interloan will do its best to guide you or provide an appropriate response.

Want to support this effort?

Solidarity is built together. If you would like to contribute to this effort — through a donation, by sharing, or through a collaboration — every gesture counts and will be directed to the people who need it.
