Understanding solidarity financing

Before submitting a request, here is how solidarity financing works at Interloan, and why we exist.

The issue

In many countries, access to fair and transparent financing remains difficult for individuals, families and small businesses who do not meet the criteria of traditional banks.

Added to this is an increasingly pressing issue: extreme weather events — floods, droughts, storms — weaken more households and small activities every year. Who can be helped, under what conditions, and with what support? This is the question Interloan tries to answer, file by file.

In the face of extreme weather and climate disasters

Interloan follows a policy of particular attention to people and small organisations affected by extreme weather or climate disasters, prioritising the review of files linked to this type of situation.

Our approach

Interloan combines two requirements: staying accessible to people who lack access to traditional banking channels, and staying rigorous in reviewing every request.

Transparency

Terms, amounts and timelines communicated clearly before any decision — no hidden fees.

Confidentiality

Each file's data stays protected and is never shared without consent.

Individual review

No automated decisions: every file is reviewed by a person, in its real context.

Our types of financing

01 — Credit

Accessible credit

Loans with clear terms, designed to finance a project, an unexpected expense, or an income-generating activity — no jargon, no hidden fees. Amount, rate and repayment schedule are explained before any signature.

02 — Donation

Financial donations

Direct support, with no repayment, for situations where a credit would not be the right answer: medical emergency, disaster, severe hardship. Reviewed case by case by the team.

03 — Material

Material gifts

Vehicles and goods that are no longer used get a second life: redistributed to those who can genuinely put them to use, with verification and a formal handover.

Key resources

What is a solidarity credit?

A loan with accessible terms, designed to finance a project or an income-generating activity — not to generate profit through interest.

How does a material donation work?

A good that is no longer used by its owner is checked, then handed over to someone who can genuinely use it, with a formal acknowledgement of receipt.

Why an individual review?

An algorithm does not know a person's real context. At Interloan, every file is read by a human being before any decision.

Financing after a climate disaster

After extreme weather, the urgency is not only financial: it is also human. Fast support, without complex procedures, helps people get back on their feet more quickly.
