Chief Executive Officer — Interloan

A path built between finance and the field

David Stanley has never seen finance as an end in itself, but as a tool to serve those who need it most. A graduate in international finance, he began his career within traditional banking institutions, where for several years he held positions related to credit analysis and the management of international portfolios. It was there that he observed up close the limits of a system often disconnected from the human realities it was meant to serve: files treated as mere numbers, decisions made without ever meeting the people concerned.

This realisation led him, a few years later, to join the humanitarian financing sector, where he led emergency aid and reconstruction programmes in several regions affected by natural disasters and economic crises. This field experience became the turning point of his career: there, he discovered the real impact that well-supported aid can have on a family, a business, an entire community — and how much that impact depends on the human quality of the support, not just the amount released.

The birth of a conviction — and of Interloan

Drawing on this dual experience — the rigour of international finance and the closeness of humanitarian fieldwork — David Stanley founded Interloan with a precise ambition: to create an organisation able to combine the financial soundness of a serious institution with the warmth and responsiveness of genuinely human support. From the outset, he rejected the model of automated platforms, where an algorithm decides in place of a human being, and set as a founding principle that no decision at Interloan would ever be made without a person having read, understood, and been able to explain the file concerned.

Leadership built on rigour and closeness

Now at the head of Interloan, David Stanley oversees both the organisation's financial strategy — development of donation and credit programmes, regulatory compliance, international partnerships — and the culture of support that makes the organisation distinctive. He remains personally involved in major strategic decisions, while making sure that every member of the Interloan team shares the same standard: treating every request as if it were the only one that mattered.

For David, leading Interloan is not simply about managing a financial organisation — it is about embodying, day after day, the promise made to every beneficiary: to be listened to, understood, and supported by people, not by a system.
